About me…

Making and creating is a driving force within me. It is my purpose to create and make things. I’m grateful beyond measure to have the opportunity to make art everyday.

It’s been a long art journey. My earliest creative memories was a “pull towards something” and it took a tremendous amount of wandering to get here. Which frankly, is at the begining. I have explored so many mediums and subjects and techniques, over decades, to find “my” art. I love drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, woodcarving, on and on. I have used these mediums and created portraits, landscapes and abstracts, and mixtures of these, only to finally find a home in ceramics.

I come back again and again to the same imagery that infuses me with a sense of peace, harmony and inspiration. Trees, birds, landscapes, transitions of color and light, primitive art, dreams, it has all had an imprint on me. My markmaking, handling of materials, handling of light/shade that I have within me, is where my art is cohesive. To take what has inspired me throughout my life as a painter and draftsman and use all of my experience and knowledge to create useful and beautiful things in ceramics is an exciting new path. I began this new chapter not so long ago, October of 2019, and have learned so much. More importantly, I have met the best people through ceramics. Its another assurance for me that I’m in the right place.

To make things that go into the world and live in the lives of others as a joyful thing. Something they enjoy to look at and love to use. That’s my purpose.
